I just finished reading the script for the Halo movie that Alex Garland (Writer of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later, among others) wrote.
To be honest, I thought it was a lot better than I expected. Some of the dialog seemed hammy, and it seemed to follow the game almost a bit TOO close for comfort, but it had some nice ideas, and it expanded the game in all the right places. It was definitely not horrid like some reviewers whose standards were a bit too high said it was.
Overall, it's a good starting board for the rewrites that have been done (I wanna read the D.B. Weiss script now) and had some decent humor and shock.
The main reason that the script isn't being used for the movie, however, is that Master Chief, being a faceless, quiet character, is hard to project emotion onto. The words and actions of the character are very important to making audiences feel an attachment to him, and the Alex Garland script, while still well written, didn't do that job.
Here's a direct link to the script, if you're interested. It's in .pdf format. To save, right-click on the link and click "Save as" or "save target as"

And no, this is not piracy. The script is open to viewing since it was scrapped.
I Read the Halo Movie Script by Alex Garland...

Halo doesn't have a good enough plot to have its own movie. Stupid.

Or like books and stuff.
I'm sure nobody could think of a way to expand "Space marines + Religious zealotic cultic terrorist-ic group of Alien races from different planets and politics and stuff + Ancient race of human beings that created giant weapons of mass destruction + An ancient race of sentient parasitical creatures that flies on organic ship thingies" into a decent movie.
You know what Dragon you are totally right, the plot in Halo is really bad, horrible, and bare bones there is no way anyone could turn that into a decent movie.

Halo seems to resemble Starshhip Troopers.
That was a preety good movie.

There's no way anybody could turn it into a movie with a good plot, but it has potential for a hell of an action thrill ride.

I think a book is good, not a movie.

It was good, but once you figure out the whole halo-kills-everyone thing... well, that's pretty much the whole plot.

I'll only see the movie if the guy who played J. Jonah Jameson from the Spiderman movies plays Avery Johnson in blackface.

Lol, his name is J.K. Simmons. Yeah, it would be funny if he did. He's got the voice and look, kinda.
