I think that Michael Bay's methods of directing are flawless.
I think autocracy is superior to democracy.
I think power metal is harder than most other kinds of metal.
I think that trailer music should be something to casually listen to, not just for film production and special occasions.
I think the safest mode of transportation is anything with armored plating.
I think veganism and vegetarianism is a complete waste of time and potential calories.
I think free will is total bullshit and needs to be invasively regulated.
I think civilians should be allowed to own heavy, military-grade weapons.

Quote from Jeffit's never come up with anyone else outside of the soup kitchen except my family who also disagree with me
your family feels comfortable with homeless people? and when you walk through the city, you don't see anyone ignoring them, looking uncomfortable around them, etc, everyone just cuddles up next to em and hangs out with em like they're everyday pals, from your life experience.
alright

alright
why are you so against my unpopular opinion?

admit that you're just doing this because you don't like me ;_;

I like you just fine! :) I wasn't really invested in arguing about it so I decided to be facetious to attempt a point, but it was kinda lost on you when you tried to justify your use of selective contexts to yourself while condemning mine.

My opinion is that we should get back to opinions.

An opinion well-shared, Iarentevil.

I find this sexually appealing and in no way disturbing.
Trust me, there is an entire fandom (a few of us at SP included) at your back there...
...but then again, they are cultural minorities.

@Index I think what you said still makes sense, but not in the context of "unpopular opinions". It IS an interesting subject, but it's pretty much down to semantics. I think the thread would be better if titled more appropriately, because half of these opinions are only subjectively unpopular, hence why I said "Regular opinion thread", not that there's anything wrong with that.

My use of selective contexts was only used when the subject is small and selective by nature. Azumanga is only known by people who like Azumanga... and me, at least to my knowledge. Never met someone outside of that. Homeless people are known by everyone. The 360 and the PS3 are known by everyone. So is the abortion issue. Etc.
For the bands, the selective contexts were the only places that were exceptions to what I usually run into, rather than the other way around.

I've just seen the same thread many times and in many places; it's almost a stock thread idea. I just like seeing what people have to post, I find it interesting. The end of that long post I made was the most important part.

You're still doing it... haha. Do you really think there aren't any other people that don't like that show? You've intentionally ignored an entire group of people to justify your "unpopular opinion" and claim it's valid because in your experience you've never seen otherwise? That could easily apply to any of the things I've said. "I've never seen anyone else uncomfortable around homeless people, therefore I must be the only one." That's just as valid as "i've never seen anyone else who doesn't like azumanga therefore I must be the only one."
In both situations it would take a simple google search to see that you're not the only one. In both situations, I think common sense could show you're obviously not the only one.

I love the Chicken & Waffles flavored Lays chips.
I think people with mental disabilities (especially when it's physically evident that they have one) are pretty strange and weird.
I really didn't want to say the second one, lol.

I think sex is more than just a physical act and should only be done between people who have an extremely deep connection who are mature and mature enough to handle the consequences that may result.
I also think one night stands are pathetic for all parties involved.
I think weed (and other drugs) should stay illegal.
I'm catholic, but I believe God judges people of all faiths fairly.

But that completely ignores the fact that Azumanga is VERY widely acclaimed and almost universally considered to be "good"; you would, like you said, have to really seek out those people who don't like it. I don't just hang out with five people who like it. I see entire sites hold it up on a pedestal, any anime site I've been to, and I get shitstormed when I talk shit about it. This isn't the "Opinions That You Have and Literally No One Else Has" thread, it's just for when the vast majority disagrees— not literally everyone.
For 2001, I've actually googled things TRYING desperately to find people who don't like it, negative reviews, and I actually ran into joke articles. Not serious dislike reviews. A negative review made for April Fools. That REALLY made me feel like my opinion was unpopular. Yes, there have to be SOME people somewhere out there who don't like it either. It's the majority of what I've seen that leads me to believe that the majority of people I'll ever see or talk to will disagree with me. If you make it the requirements for something being "unpopular" so ridiculously high, it just kills the thread.
And the thing is, I don't believe you haven't seen people uncomfortable around homeless people. Go to a city. Everyone ignores them and steers clear. And I don't believe you haven't seen PS3 fanboys.

You're still missing my point. Also, this is sort of getting off of that point. I was never saying anything YOU posted specifically weren't "unpopular". Not liking azumanga or whatever could very well be an unpopular opinion, I'm not here to make that call. I could see it being a reasonable case, but it wasn't really about whether or not it was actually unpopular, it was about how you set it up in your head to be unpopular. You considered it to be unpopular because in your very subjective experience you don't see a lot of people liking it. That mentality is easily abused for any situation, and comparing that one case to all of the obviously non-unpopular ones I used isn't really fair. A more appropriate comparison would be not liking AC/DC to not liking the 360 over the PS3, because like you claim "the 360 and the PS3 are known by everyone", so I could say that AC/DC is "known by everyone" because AC/DC is one of the most popular bands ever. Obviously there are going to be split opinions on the quality of that band, and you even said your self:
I've never met someone irl who agrees that they're bad, and if I expressed my opinion somewhere like at my high school lunch table or my house, I'd probably get into an argument. But if I said that on rateyourmusic.com or an experimental music forum, I'd be met with agreement.
So in this situation you've done exactly what I did and created a very selective context and then tried hard to back it up when I started doing the same thing.
EDIT: And to be clear: this is what everyone is going to do if that's how you define what an "unpopular opinion" is. So to me it's unfair and ironic that you condemned what I said while doing that same shit yourself. Double standards.

I posted that part about AC/DC in order to say that all of those people in a small place don't disqualify it from being an unpopular opinion. It would be equivalent to your 360 vs PS3 thing if I said "Everyone in the avant-garde part of RYM hates AC/DC. I hang out there. Therefore, it's an unpopular opinion to LIKE the band." What I actually meant was "Everyone in the avant-garde part of RYM hates AC/DC. I do too. However, I recognize that AC/DC is extremely critically acclaimed everywhere else, and in any other context I've been in, including every day encounters with people who aren't running into me because of a specialized music interest, I just happen to live nearby them, and it seems to me that they are a very well liked band around the entire world. Therefore, a small context having a differing consensus does not disqualify it from being an "unpopular" opinion. The wide context is available and favorable in my consideration." The 360 vs PS3 thing may be universally favorable for the 360 on ilovexbox.com, but since there is also a wider context available for your consideration— your entire life experience and everday encounters and ALL the sites you've seen and all the knowledge you have, you choose that wider context instead. And in that wider context, it isn't unpopular to like one over the other. It's pretty split down the middle. This contrasts with AC/DC, where the sum of my entire life experience and everywhere else I've seen and everyone I've known leads me to believe that most people who have heard that band like that band, making those who dislike AC/DC, myself included, have an unpopular opinion that's appropriate for posting in this thread.
