View Profile Why can't you do the same with allbowtross? It can be done, allbowtrosses can kite.
...under the condition the enemy doesnt have archers.
Albowtross are honestly great for forward kiting spears with blazing bolts, and G-Kiting spears. Also, considering how much archer is as a meta...yeah.

View Profile I say a mix of both. Archidons have a faster spawn speed and are more early game as a main unit. U should tech up to albows when the situation calls for it. Ie. you suspect the opponent to be going for a giant. Reading the lull in action and noticing how more than one CA are firing at your units is a good hint. Plus if the enemy produces no other type of defense or even if the opponent pulls out a magikill and meric first.
Albow can take poison better than archidons due to the slight armor benefit IF you should manage to be careless enough to get tagged. Blazing bolts has a noticeable damage increase to albows even if only a few thus far.
I usually get 5 archidons before i begin teching to anything alternating between swords miners and arch. Scouting enemy base to taunt the opponent to chasing or just getting a few harass pegs in.
I like getting my swords to rage clear the enemy archidons by placing an arch or spear into range then running backwards.
Also tends to kill that first spear with just 3 swords with rage and a foward kiting arch.
To put it simply, use what you think makes the most sense at the time and won't ruin your Eco in the process.

yea, you said it, unless they have archers
I know albowtross can kite too (I even use them to kite chaos giants), but it flies too slow for archers...

View Profile I wish albows would get more range then archers, while archers should have more fire rate then albows....

Yes. It's hilarious how I can stay out of the range of 5 albows with unguarded archers and still hit them

Hell no, IMBA things that produce faster than 2 archers can produce can shoot from a longer range meaning they get first shot? Heeeelllll no.

View Profile But it makes sense. Superior height = superior range. Not constantly buffeted by winds = easier reloading. Logically, anyway. In terms of gameplay it would probably suck for the archers.

Don't play logic with me!
Crosssbows focus on attack damage and shoot much shorter than bows, while bows have longer range. Also, the higher you go, the more wind so albows have the wind disavantage

View Profile Well, we can disregard wind, because their could always be a tailwind blowing the bolt a greater distance.
However, the most likely reason that Albowtrosses have a shorter range is due to the fact that crossbow bolts are usually larger and heavier than an arrow, if my memory is correct. The added weight allows for more armour penetration, but possibly increases the amount of drop the projectile experiences. Also, since the Albowtrosses can pull back the string on their crossbows easily, they might have less tense bowstrings on it. Although, the Archidons have their bows constantly pulled back. Upper body strength eh?

View Profile fhtrg: I disagree.
The crossbow has a maximum range of around 300 yards. The English Longbow has a maximum range of around 400 yards. This would appear, initially, that you are correct.
However, this is only assuming that the archidons use English Longbows, bows that are more than 5 feet tall (defined by wikipedia as roughly equal to the height of the person using it). I somehow don't see archidons running around or kiting when lugging about such a cumbersome thing.

no, what i want to say is: Actually, crossbows (in real life) have a better range, "more dmg", more accuary.....and a big recoil.
Archer on the other side has only more fire rate...its pretty easier to reload bows then crossbows. Dunno if the bolts are larger, but I know they are heavier, and that makes them actually do more range...or?

Must be the first time I've ever seen someone say that.

If you want to take this to a logical level, a crossbow takes about 20 seconds or so to reload and has reduced range compared to a longbow (or a recurve).

View Profile A bow actually has longer range than a crossbow.
