So one day while I'm playing my PSP, it ran out of battery. But when I was going to charge it, it suddenly won't. I presumed my charger was broken, but I did a few tests to see if the charger really is the problem.

First, I tried charging with the charger. Nothing happened. Then I tried charging with the same way, the exception being I didn't have the battery in the PSP. Still, nothing happened. And then I tried charging with the USB cable. Still no result. But when I do the same thing with battery out, it worked, and I was able to open the PSP. But only for a few seconds.

Based on this, I think the problem is the battery and the charger. But I want to make sure if it really was the problem, before I buy the stuff and it wont work again.

This is a problem you should look up on google, and or sony's official homepage and forum. I dont think many people are able to help you, other than doing the same thing :)

Borrow a battery from someone to test it out, you can't be the only one in your social circle with a psp.

I agree with sss, I have a PSP but it's has never done this. The crap it does is freeze and switch off during games. Try another charger or call Sony if you still have warranty.

psp chargers are notorious for becoming faulty later in their lifespans. mine only works when it's plugged in at a certain angle. It could also be your battery, as psp batteries are known to die off pretty quick as well. My original psps battery can no longer hold a charge for more than 15 mins.

It's possible that your battery just expired. They only last for like 2 years I think before they just go dead like goldfish

Coincidentally, it has been 2 years since I bought it. I'm going to test the battery out with my friend, and if it indeed it was the battery, I'd buy a new one.

Thanks for helping everyone! :D

Try buying a new charger if there's one on the store or try borrowing a charger from a friend of yours and try it. If it doesn't work then maybe your PSP has a problem.

I own a PSP 3000 and just got it like August, 2013 anyways.
