Neither, unless they somehow got into poverty by their own stupidity (which generally isn't the case ). However, in terms of doing stupid things then, their lives could be fantastic.

Either way, Mantha isn't a child dying of poverty, she's studying law and drinks regularly*.

*At least, on occasion.

If he'd said "If that's the dumbest thing you've done then you have done relatively few dumb things" then that would be fine, but he definitely made a statement about overall quality of life and that is not justified.

I reject the idea that arguing with someone is stupid just because it's on the internet. Whether you're talking to someone online or face-to-face it's still communication between two people. If you think arguing is stupid in general then that's a different matter.

I didn't really intend to get into an argument anyway. I just wanted to give him a chance to rephrase his statement that "if your life is not fantastic it's because you've done something stupid", since that's a claim that a lot of people will hate you for.
