I got inspired by the walking dead today and decided to make a background. All done in flash.

I'm not so sure about the way I placed the horde of walkers in the background so I would appreciate some criticism if it looks good or not.

Alright, I typically love your backgrounds, and this one is no exception. So, I'll get to saying what I love and don't love.

Love: The atmosphere.
The darkness of the pic is what interests me the most. The time of day (I'm assuming sunset, twilight, whatever you wish to call it) matches the general tone of The Walking Dead quite a bit. The sign in the foreground is most certainly something you might see, though, the words do seem a *bit* cartoonish compared to the blood and the rest of the pic. Looking close at the city in the background, I feel like I can make out hints of the emptiness of life, and I think I can see some signs of plants beginning to overrun things. Always a good way to give things a long dead vibe. The sky is just marvelous, the clouds and colors blending together seamlessly. Quite realistic in my opinion. And the walkers of course look nice and shadowy, which gives them a creepier vibe.

Don't Love: Some of the details
As I mentioned before, the words on the sign don't quite match as well. In fact, the sign looks just a bit out of place; not because it isn't something that would appear, but the coloration just makes it seem more cartoony compared to the rest of the work. The road looks good, but the line markers bother me. Both the length and the condition just seem wrong. I'm of course using real life roads as my basis, but even they aren't quite as perfect or long as those. The only other problem I have in particular is the grouping of the walkers. While it isn't unlikely to see a horde of walkers, especially near large cities, their grouping gives them the appearance of a parade. I feel like having them bit more spread out would help the effect a bit more. I mean, there's quite a bit of open space to use. This is more personal preference, but I do feel it would help the overall feel of things.

thanks! I changed it up a bit using the tips you gave me (deviantart lets me just update so you can still use that link in the first post). I removed the line markers on the road and just changed it to one line and also placed the walkers a little bit further from eachother. I also changed the sign. How does it look?

Totally loving it. I think it helped improve the realism, and along with that, the total effect. Either way, though, it's still some amazing work.

I feeling like the road was too clean, and there needs to be gaps in the white line on the road, the walkers also need to be spread out more. I also feel like the road sign above the road was a bit too large, since it looks quite a distance away. Over all everything else amazing as usual.

The walkers look fine and spread out enough in my opinion compared to the first version. However, I did put a texture overlay on the road now and moved the sign a little bit to the right.

If your background isn't animated, export it. It's easier on file size when you upload it, and when it loads for us.

Thanks! My first idea was actually just to use zombie silhouttes from google or whatever but I couldn't find any good ones, so I just made those myself lol. also, I used flash for the entire thing. I have a background tutorial in the tutorial section somewhere but it's a little bit outdated considering all of the new techniques I learned since I made that tutorial.
