You should try Jing. I think that's good.

Or perhaps you can try CamStudio: http://camstudio.org/
Personally haven't tried it yet, but hopefully it's worth it.

Pretty sure he uses Camtasia studio. Not sure why because it's such a pain in the arse to work with, but yeah. Would be tons better if you use Hypercam3(with license). That's what I used to use.

Camstudio: Small yet a very good recorder. I have a YouTube account and has over 30+ uploads and it's all recorded with Camstudio. The thing I like the most about this software is that it doesn't lag, and another is that it has this "pan" feature where you can resize the rectangular shape thingy that allows you to how small the screen should the recorder record.
Camtasia Studio: It's a good recorder I must say. There are 10x more options than Camstudio. It has this effects like, arrows, balloons and many more. You can edit the video after recording and many more. Good for high-end computers (it lags because I'm using a small netbook).
Hypercam: The very first recording software I ever used. It's an awesome recording software. I stopped using it like 3 years ago and I already don't know what Hypercam looks like today (because Hypercam on 3 years ago was simple. But let me guess, maybe the updated version of Hypercam is more better? LOL).

It's basically Fraps but better.
Camtasia Studio is also cool.
