Basically we all know computer games have minuses. Some have comparability issues, some have performance issues, so why don't we share a couple tips and tricks on how to improve performance and compatability for either old games, new comps or vice versa.
This is just for people who might randomly scroll through and find something they like and experiment it.
So, here's my first tip:
For older games, new high resolutions are not supported. When you're playing Freelancer or even Crysis 1 on a huge 1920x1080 monitor, you'll notice two problems:
1. Depending on the video card, the image will either draw black bars on the sides or simply scale the image, and it'll look squashed.
2. You'll be able to see smoothed pixels.
In order to end this, you will need to find the game's settings folder in the documents. Usually "C:/Users/User/My Documents" Somewhere within, you'll find the game's Settings. It'll be named like the game. In this folder you'll find a preferences file. It's usually either a .cfg or .ini. Open it with notepad and you'll find lines called something like "width" and "height". Change their values to your monitor proportions. (Right click on desktop > Resolution)
(Sry for dis one not being very specific. Game stuff vary a lot from game to game)
