I drew this some time ago and decided that I wanted to make a color version. However, there are some things that I think are off with the picture that I can't seem to lay my finger on :/

I used SAI to color the picture and it' was my first time cell shading with the gray-scale.
Advice on gray-scale shading would be deeply appreciated. Forgive my noobiness XD

This is pretty good art you did, man! Though my only complaint is the shirt, it just needs some work. But I like it overall.

Thanks Shadowkirby! Yeah my brother said the shirt bothers him too. I think I'll rework the shading/line art on it. ^_^

CnC ahoy! Nice attempt at greyscale, but keep in mind that, while it's only greys, blacks, and whites, you still need to make it interesting enough for the viewer to enjoy. You're sticking mainly to the greys and it's a bit bland. Explore! Throw a lot more lights and darks in there. For greyscale, your lineart is key, and your lineart only scratches the surface. Put a bunch of line quality in there; really thick lines and really thin lines, and even make some shadows opposite of the light source completely black.

Now, aside from shading, your anatomy is alright, not spot on though, from where the collar bone is placed it looks like you're looking down on her, but the rest of her body makes it seem like you looking at it from a lower angle. Also make sure to decide whether or not clothes are going to be saggy or stiff, otherwise the clothing contradicts itself. I'm going to say what a college professor told me as well: put your characters in environments, it makes it much more interesting!

I hope I didn't overload you with everything, but please look at what I've said and work on these things. To give you a good example of some greyscale art, check this out and see that it meets most, if not all, of what I stated above: http://www.artwallpaperhi.com/Digital/greyscale/tenjou_tenge_grayscale_skeletons_manga_chains_1456x1119_wallpaper_43998

Thanks so much for the CnC Zaix! I'll be keeping your advice in mind the next time I draw a picture with greyscale ^^
