Note: Please feel free to post on this thread about anything relating to animation improvement. And if you would be so kind to check out my DA and Dojo Links below that'd be great. I'd also super love it if you share my thread so I can get as much exposure and cnc as possible. I feel like I'm keeping the content streaming out for this thread so look out for me ! Oh and I'm working on finals atm so probably won't be posting anything for about 3 weeks - a month. Thanks everyone who's been lurking on this thread but.... could ya post something? Please c:
Xeno's Animation Thread!

Description:
Demo for the Stickpage RHG 'Xeno'. Showcasing a new power/mode called Parallel Axis Mode.
Allows him to tap into a balance between both sides of himself. He can focus his powers into fire and ice with the PADE Blade.(Parallel Axis Dual Edged Blade). The flaws in this mode are he can easily become unaware and lose himself to the evil side.

Not my best so you can cnc if you want but there are very obvious problems that I've already taken note of.

Really nice style (reminds me of Kixx) although it was quite choppy. You have much potential.

Alright I'm going to break ya down, to help you out m8.

Here we go baby! First off, overall your animations are solid. You know what you're doing but there are alot of things that stand out to me.

Axis Mode Demo: The weapon itself doesn't really seem to be interacting with the stick. It seems as if he's just spinning the weapon around independently of the stick. There is no force in his swings, no anticipation. On the last upper swing he loses all of his momentum and there is no follow through. Fast paced action is good, just make sure you still try to apply the basics when you're animating, specially with a weapon.

Xeno RHG Demo: Liked the light lighting. It's not bad but watch those reactions, specially at the start. Some of the angles are unnecessary. Such as when both sticks are just looping in the graphic awkwardly until he pulls his sword out. Alot of your angles don't flow either. He's in one stance in this angle, then it complete changes in the next. Really kills the flow when people do that. Remember in angles all the principles apply, easing, anticipation, and follow through. Angles are a great aid to any animation, but they can also become the biggest crutch.

Clan Tryout: Ok first thing is first. Anyone that is reading. IF you have a sky background, ANIMATE IT WITH THE STAGE. The characters are moving but the clouds are staying still. That's not right at all. If anything, blow that image up to maybe 1280x720 idk, then MOVE IT, ANIMATE IT. It completely throws off the whole animation. Think of it in real life. You have a camera recording a fight(lol) if you're moving it to get all the angles, the background floor, sky, anything in it will also move. Make sure you do that.

Summary: Do some more smaller practices, you give away that explosions are not your strong suit by making everyone that happens really small. That's called a "comfort zone" try to break that. If you're sucking at animating whatever you're trying to do that means you can improve in it. That's not a personal insult, i have my comfort things too, we all do. Watch your angle transitions, make sure they don't kill the flow of the animation and try to make sure the poses go into the next angle seamlessly instead of taking on a whole different pose. Overall it's good, but you can still improve, everyone can. Love to see more though, keep up the good stuff.

Wow!
Thanks Ezy that was extremely encouraging and helpful.

I'll try my best to apply these techniques in my upcoming animations !

Thanks Choopiek.
Since it's a test and I don't need coloring practice I don't think I'll color it. But I might use these same elements on a full length, then I'll color the fx.
