So any of you guys thought about forming a game development group? I'm learning to use the Unity engine, and it seems to be quite fun.
Admit it, if you're here it most of the time means u have experience with Flash, if u have experience with Flash u have experience with programming.
So, i'm assembling a small group of Unity game devs, it even has a website, which i own. (PM me for details,) i already have a publisher and stuff, (to cover stuff up like... U know what i mean,) and already a concept. I just thought if any1 on SP has any intention of doing this. All we need here is basically some free time, an extra 5-10 GB disc space, (for software) and we're all set!
(What does this have to with Flash/SP? UNITY CAN EXPORT .HTMLs!!! :P)
It's clearly stated that SP's not limited to Flash, and since Unity can export .html games, 3D or 2D, it's worth checking out! Moreover, Unity's officially free of charge unless we get a 100,000$ total reward or need any tough gfx, which i doubt we will need. We can form activities for both SP and other stuff, if i decide to expand the team.
So anybody thinks it's worth trying?

You'd be surprised.
And if anyone was searching to form a game developing group, why not actually look for some game developers? A group of stick animators won't get you very far.

No we don't know what you mean. Why do you have a publisher when you've made nothing thus far? What credentials did you give that publisher to accept you?
And a concept? Really? That's all you've got. You're asking this place for supporters in a venture that has neither been fleshed out nor built up.
Come back when you have at least an Alpha running, and don't waste our time.

I have no idea, since you talked about everything except for what the idea actually is. Hell, you spent more time praising Unity than talking about yourself or why we should work with you.
The best case scenario is that you've spent time putting together a well-thought-out, detailed concept so your team can clearly understand what you're trying to accomplish, and you've found a reputable publisher who likes the idea and wants to work with it once it's finished.
If that's true I have no idea why you decided not to include a single detail about any of it, it doesn't look good when you barely spend two sentences talking about the stuff that takes real time and effort on your part. It makes me think your "publisher and stuff" isn't worth bragging about and you're recruiting a team for an idea you haven't fleshed out yet.
Not trying to offend or anything. "What's your idea and why should I want to help you with it?" is what we're all wondering, if you can't answer that then it'll be hard for anyone to take you seriously, that's all I'm saying.

Well now everybody's just taking it too serious. Calm down.
Let's start one by one:
For Mr. Evil: First of all, as i said, I plan on basing the game development first on SP with stuff like cartoon shaders to make t look... flashy. Second of all, I am assembling a team, and I doubt that a small project that's whole concept bases itself on a shader, a couple cylinders and a few boxes needs a BF4 kind of team.
For Hewitt:
Now you are having a problem with the publisher. You know what? This publisher is an actual indie-game dev company with it's owner calling me "bro" over Skype. Actually I'm planning to work on this company, but little side-kicks like this one I can handle myself with a little of their help, so I decided to use them as a sort of a convincing that I'm not nobody.
Also, I didn't ask for support. I asked for a start. If no1's interested in moving to this and forming a group with me, that's fine. No work for SP.
For Exilement:
Yes, every one of your statements here is right. Your attitude toward them is wrong. Sorry if my Eng is bad, but i was trying to put two ideas into this post.
1. What you understood, (I am trying to get some people, blah blah blah)
2. I think that Unity is worth jumping to as it can evolve what we call "sticks." Wouldn't you like to see a shining copy of "Battlestick IV" or something on your table? Cuz that's something of what I thought of. (Think I'm being stupid? Check out Jazzpunk)
You all seem to think too seriously of this. Does anybody here knows the word "indie?" I'm just asking for people who may be interested to FORM a community of Unity game designers, with concentrating a little effort on SP.

You seem to be under the impression that Flash far outperforms Unity and that the latter is now the holy grail of indie game development tools. I can see how one would misinterpret that since Actionscript itself has pretty much stopped evolving, but it is not the tools that make the developer. Anyone can make a game using any language, so your argument to support the engine solely as a means to jump ship is invalid.
Secondly, you are missing me and Exilement's point. We are not bashing you on your ability or your choice of tools or the credibility of your publisher, but the fact that you've just decided to for no other reason claim to want to recruit developers from this place with nothing more than a CONCEPT and a bromance with said publisher. You are forgetting the most important thing and that is the DEVELOPMENT itself. Go to the Community Projects section and check out the countless "Concept Only" works that linger there. They've all failed and you're no different. Just because you boast an impressive engine (which you admit you are still learning to use, by the way) and a 'publisher' doesn't mean shit if you can't even make your CONCEPT a reality.
Forget the fact that you're already thinking about making something as epic as Jazzpunk when you can't even script something that can hold water in Unity, much less have something to show for it. Forget the fact that you're seemingly smug commentary on how stick animation is crap compared to Unity when your idiotic stick avatar is looking at us straight in the face. You have come into this thread with literally NOTHING and you expect us to take you seriously.
Why would you even need a game development team, anyway? That's certainly not the first thing you think about when you want to make something. You only ask for help when you need it. The guy who made Antichamber said the graphics for his game were minimalist not because he wanted to go with that art style, but that he himself could not compete with the graphical proficiencies of other AAA titles, and so he worked with that restriction to produce something truly beautiful. THAT'S what being indie is all about. Don't you fucking dare tell me we don't know what indie is. You yourself seems to have a disillusion with the definition.
So like I said. Make an Alpha. And then come back and become more credible. Otherwise, you're just talking shit out of your ass.

Incredible.
Anyways first of all, you'll have a lot better luck catching people's attention than trying to pitch your idea like this is a 2 AM infomercial.
Secondly, if you want to make people interested in your plans, you have to give them a plan. All you've said is that you want to form a Indie game developing group. But what kind of games are they? What about all this would make it worth spending months and months of our time coding and designing? We don't know anything about what you want or what you're capable of.
And this might be a bit of a kick in the balls, but nearly no one here has any coding knowledge at all. You'd have better luck at a Unity forum maybe. Just try and pitch your idea a lot better than you did here.

You're trying to assemble a team of people willing to put their free time, effort and talents into making your idea happen. You're taking on the responsibilty of a leader, it's your idea and you need to distribute responsibilities and give individual direction to each person according to your goals and vision to ensure the end product is consistent.
No one is going to dedicate their talents to something for free when it's being managed by someone who doesn't take his own ideas seriously. You still haven't even explained what game you want to make. Huge red flag right there.

Okay, fine, bin this thread.
As a concept i was working on a sort of a stick FPS game, with the player's objective to rob banks. i can't put much detail here since it's a mere concept and i'd still like ideas from other people. I want someone to simply help me organize it, to start it, to make it grow, but apparently you guys say it's not enough. Well, since i'm supposed to consider u wiser than me by default, just bin this thread and i'll come back with a game in a few months. Congrats. U won the argument.
If someone who can actually be helpful on this is out there, go to PM. I don't want to carry this conversation out with the presence of doubters. All i asked were people to simply add me in Skype, talk about the concept and start working on it together.

Each one of those articles has their own view on the subject, but they all drive the same point: If you have an idea, and you want to make a game, your best course of action is to do it yourself. Once you have poured at least half of your heart and soul into something, then you can come back here and properly recruit some fellas. If you go into a Unity forum right now and ask for this same treatment, you will get lambasted I guarantee you.

The experiences I have with programming are a little bit of Linux command line (previously Mac command line), Window's command line (I am currently making a single-word translator using a dictionary for a fictional language, as a bat file, using 16-digit hash codes for each word.) I know far more about Lua script, and can write programs if I have an API to work with. I have been working on learning java, but I can learn anything I can be taught.
