Here is the strategy that I have been using, it got me to 1500 real fast, and its still working. It is basically a slightly altered version of the spear archer strategy. The important part is the middle game, not much out of the usual archer spear strategy in the late and middle.

Start by putting both miners on gold, buy either sword archer (for short maps), miner archer (for long maps), or miner miner sword (for medium maps)

Short Maps
Send archer and sword to capture the tower. Send the archer out a little bit in front of the sword. That way, if the enemy has an archer sword you can have your archer take the first few hits. If my opponent sent in their sword first, I rush my sword at their archer because I know that it can take one extra arrow before I lose the skirmish. If my opponent also sent out their archer in front of the sword, I make my archer hold so it fires as soon as possible. If I make a mistake, I position my sword between my archer and their archer, then kite back. While this fight is happening, I can generally buy an extra miner. Even if I think I will lose the fight, I do this.

Medium Maps
These were my weakest when I started, because I assumed that the shorter the map the more aggressive your opening should be. However, I have had far more success starting miner miner sword on medium maps, because I find that this allows me to more effectively control the opening regardless of what my opponent does. If my opponent starts sword archer or miner archer, I can pull my sword back and just turtle for the rest of the game. If they start a sword of their own, I buy an archer and pressure hard. On these maps, I don't buy a fifth miner until I know what my opponent is starting.

Long Maps
I start miner archer because I find that it gives me a very nice balance between offense and economy. These maps are long enough to make kiting extremely powerful. Not much more to say about this.

Middle Game

I don't buy very many swords except for one or two in the opening, because I generally feel that they become worthless once my opponent gets a castle archer. Instead, I buy a bunch of archers and miners until I have six or seven miners on gold. Then, buy two more miners, put them on mana, and buy troops in this order: spear, spear, archer, spear, archer, miner hustle. As soon as the first two spears are done, I look to begin attacking my enemy. This is one of my biggest secrets. I will attack even if their army is equally sized, try to damage their troops as much as possible without losing any of my own, and then retreat. While this is happening, I buy a meric to heal my troops. The reason that this works for me is because I have set up my strategy specifically to buy a meric, while my opponent was probably working towards something else. Now, because the units are damaged on both sides a meric is probably the most valuable unit they could buy. If they just garrison their troops, I can attack their miners because my spears can take castle archer hits.

Late game
A few more spears, another meric, two magikills, and a couple giants. Very standard late game. I am thinking about trying to use shadowraths more, but so far I have had more luck just spamming spears to win faster.
