A hard rating reset every half year would serve this purpose better.

That makes periods of rating meaning nothing, which isn't so good when it can constantly be referable by this method.

lol what a joke... 1 game a week is nothing. The only impact it will have is force REALLY old players off of the top.

You contradicted yourself so hard here it's not even funny.

what if people are in school?
like... what if that persons only way to go ranked is at school and they are on break for a couple weeks.
i think this is a bad idea in an indirect way.
i own a mac at home however it is rather difficult to play on a laptop.
i'd say a month is better than a week.
either risk playing laptop handicapped or lose rating for not being able to play.
seems rather flawed in this aspect.
it would make more sense to increase the time limit.

Pumuecils, have you tried...

Not giving a fuck? (Click to Show)

If the situation is true that you may not be able to play for a week sometimes, I advise that you accept the rating loss and not give a fuck (Don't let it get you down) ;)

People who care about rating and don't rank doesn't go together. The only way to increase your rating is by playing. Also, they're idiots (sorry, it's true) if they want to remain at a rating.
People who don't care...don't care. They don't rank.

People who are shy of doing ranked matches don't deserve their rating then.

Thankfully it's really hard to play much SE without making friends off ranked matches.

Is anyone experiencing where they don't gain rating in DM but they lose rating in DM? I've heard several report of this and experienced it myself.

The only thing I suggested was that if you lose points, you don't give a fuck and be resilient about it by just accepting the "Time Loss" of points...and getting back into the game happily even if you don't play for a while (It's a positive suggestion, jocular with that video too if you cared to watch it >.>)

I am basically "Retired" from SE (More of a Minecraft guy now), but I still play SE...so yes I'm not a person who has a rating to worry about...but just try to not get too concerned about your rating.

Also...Trust me if you go back and watch that vid, I guarantee you'll laugh ;)

One thing that rating loss (with no gain for someone else) will do is bring down all the game's elo records because overall people will have less elo in total out of all players in the game.

But the people who are playing on average wont be affected by this overall average drop because the people who are dropping wont be interacting with any of the active players. So yes there will be total deflation, but it wont affect any active players.

Also to CRAZYJAY can we get any figures on the rate of deflation?

For me the biggest thing im worried about is keeping things moving. With decay rate inactives will drop and actives will rise. ppl are more inclined to play a game when they see things moving, viewing a stagnant leader board everyday says this game isnt too active. Unless of course you have been here awhile like many of use here. But for those new to SE im thinking they might not wana bother playing if they cant get into the top 100 becuase they all seem inactive. Until more ppl start playing this game decay rate is the best option.

that's cool- finally to see more new players on the leader boards.
