Per request only will I put up my comp specs. It's nothing super amazing but certainly more than enough to play to the max and stream.

Well DAZ, you do lag a little bit.

Well, I live in NZ and my comp and internet isn't too flash. But 200 ping =/= fluctating 600 <-> 1500 ping

This system definitely needs improved... I just played TZXmystery, and literally the entire game the black lag box was up for him, but he never lagged out even... let alone I was paired with him after playing people like WYZ and others who have zero lag. Players like him are a disgrace, it is basically impossible to fight... all they do is lag to giant spam and then win by giant spamming... very very lame. Wish the lag counter was more strict as well as better matching of players.

Hey guys let's keep it clean. CJ has stated the system is IN WORK, everything is being adjusted and is very much subject to change. With that said, you two can't be throwing insults are each other in this thread because that's not what it's for.

What this guy said.

What he said was the first warning, this is the second and last warning.
Keep it clean, if you two want to bitch about each other, do it in private messages or over the game, not on the forums.

I have edited this part out - Tecness

Anyway, I prefer there is one more option to be added into system
Which is to add the option to block the talk channel during the battle
So that it is easier to prevent harassment from some kids

Whatever this lag tracker was supposed to do, it doesn't seem to be working. I'm so frustrated right now, I'm playing games with massive lag--and I'm fairly sure that it's the other person who's lagging, because I have played a few games with near-instant reaction speed.

Sorry for the double post (you can give me an infraction, I really don't mind), but I think I really need to bring this issue to attention, which is that the system so far doesn't seem to be working very well. I'm clearly in the slow group, I've played a ton of players who are super laggy, and yet my connection is fine, as illustrated by the fact that I sometimes play games with essentially perfect connection. I mean, how is it that I'm playing games with near-instant reaction speed, like this one: www.stickempires.com/play?replay=replay5865669&version=2.05
and then the next game, I play a super laggy game with, like, a 5 second delay: www.stickempires.com/play?replay=replay5865669&version=2.05
I'm really frustrated with all this lag. It clearly isn't me, it's my opponent who's lagging, and yet, I still get matched up with them even thought this is supposed to prevent that.

Saint I understand the bump cause you want some attention on the subject so I'll give it.

The tracker is still a work in progress. Not all games for me are perfect too, and sometimes I get matched with a certain player frequently who has connection struggles. What I can say, is it's certainly an improvement overall. It's not perfect, but it's not making things any worse, that I can assure you. I find it to be quite enjoyable on my end.

Thanks for understanding the double post. I will concede that it's improved things, and is worth the extra queue times. That said, there are still problems as I mentioned (like getting matched with laggy users after a short time in queue) but I suppose they'll be worked out in time. One thing that would be nice would be if we could see if we are in the "fast" group or the "slow" group, this would not only let us know if we need to step up our game in terms of lag, but it would also help to more easily recognize and solve some of the errors or flaws in the system.

I doubt the any background images are causing problems. And remember, it's not an issue with players on potatoes, but how far away they are playing.

i strongly believe this is false, at least in large part. the resource consumption rates i've seen from SE on my computer, a 2K desktop that is admittedly a couple years old - blew me away, the first few times i saw them. i knew flash was a big fat pig, but WOW - it is really one big fat pig. i've played guys with solid internet connections in the country who lagged pretty decently, because they had crap computers. i've played guys far away who lagged bad, on a crappy computer and mediocre internet - and when they switched to a good computer - the lag was WAY better.

effectively, it seems to me, the SE lag = shitty computer lag + network delay. so really, i believe its both, but when you see something like a 2s lag, its hard to blame the internet for the bulk of that, especially coming from guys with 15s ping to their local speedtest server. its not like these guys are playing on air cards out in the desert... and when people are sitting at 100% cpu or no free ram, that is definitely going to have a significant impact on something like this. its definitely the internet too, but for the real bad laggers, i'm pretty confident their crappy computer takes the lion's share of the blame. that, or its a PEBKAC.
