The Horde
Story:
Ever since life started to creep upon this Earth, it has been a battle of survival. The titles "Predator" and "Prey" can switch at any moment, where the Earth itself seems to rise up against you, to claim you back into its ground. Throughout the ages, creatures have fought to go on and live, joining in families and packs to better their chances and to create new generations of fighters so that when they finally succumb, they can know that they have fought against the Earth and have won.
Creatures unify themselves into packs and groups to hunt and to protect, to co-exist, sometimes with their own species to make families, like wolves or crows, or they gain connections with different species to gain strengths where there once were weaknesses, like clownfish and anemone. This pack, however, is formed from creatures that the Earth seem to have rejected, being creatures of mindless horror, entities of simplistic intelligence, animals that nature itself spat out. This is a pack of abominations, a Horde of monsters, formed for the sole, singular purpose of surviving. The Horde itself started when the black-skinned creature, known commonly as the Handyman, grew lonely over its innumerable years of hiding in the shadows, haunting humanity. The beast, eternally in an inhuman grin, eventually realised that it can never create spawn of itself, so it will choose to help those who can, those who too are rejected.
If there are creatures out there that are deemed too monsterous for the world, animals that are rejected and are alone, then the Handyman is willing to take them in under his many arms, so that both he and they could finally have a family together; a family who will protect each other, covering each other's strengths and weaknesses; a family that will live together, claiming territory and travelling so that future generations can carry on the fight; a family that will hunt together, feeding and surviving; a family that will fight together.
Horde Behaviour:
These are the specifics of the Pack, including pack roles and territory.
Horde Alpha: The creator of the Horde, which is the Handyman. It's his duty to watch over everyone and help where help is needed. The Alpha will rarely go out by himself as he will stick with the majority of the Horde, helping with both defence and offence but mostly with making sure that all the members are alright. Taken by the Handyman.
Horde Commander: It's the job of the Horde Leader to organise the pack in missions and to keep the Horde organised. The Horde Leader is the most intelligent of the Horde and requires good communication skills in order to efficiently give out directions. Taken by Dirge.
Horde Scout: It's the job of the Scout to check out areas before the Horde moves into them, and to work alongside the Defender and the Hunter. The role of Scout requires great speed and eyesight.
Horde Hunter: The Hunter of the Horde is there to track, kill and secure food for the pack. The Hunter can receive assistance from the Scout to help track down and trap prey. The job of Hunter requires good strength, moderate speed and cunning.
Horde Berserker: The Berserker of the Horde is there to cleave paths through enemies and to deal out the most damage. Extremely dangerous and recklessly powerful, the Berserker has to be far in front of the pack, as if it were close then the Horde could possibly be damaged by it. Where Hunters hunt precisely and with techniques, the Berserker just destroys without much care for its own safety. The job of Berserker requires great strength, good speed and moderate defence, preferebly melee.
Horde Defender: The Defender of the Horde mostly helps protect the main territory, but whenever the Horde heads out together then it's the Defender's job to stay near the front, be wary of any possible dangers, and just be a tank in general. The Scout can work alongside the Defender to scout around and warn of any incoming attacks. The role of Defender requires great defence and good strength, speed isn't important.
The Horde doesn't stay in one place for very long under normal circumstances, and move from one area to the next around once a month. In this travel they can move several hundred miles, usually taking refuge in caves or deep forests, but can take refuge in abandoned villages and old ruins.
Territory status: The Horde is currently settled into a sizable cave, the cave itself leading to a large cavern. Outside of the Horde's current home is a forest, populated by wild animals and the occasional hunter. At the other side of the forest is a small town called Woodstone, an area that holds several places; An Orphanage that Handy visits regularly and a few parks Dirge hunts at, alongside his regular hunting grounds within the forest.
The cavern is currently decorated with the corpse of a human robber somewhere near the center, with Handy's area holding a crudely-made doll which has his resemblance (A gift from one of his child friends, most likely,) which rested on top of a small pile of leaves. Dirge's area of the cavern contained a bed made from leaves and sticks, a few half-eaten corpses of wild animals scattered about.
Horde members:
1.
Handyman (WafflesMgee) - the
Horde Alpha. This creature has no origin stories. He is tall with blank, blind eyes of hard nails and possesses a smile that seems too wide, as if it was breaking free of the black, leathery skin it is on. Created entirely of hands, fingers and arms, this creature can summon them at will, is weak to the light and holds some power in the dark.

2.
Dirge (Veir) - the
Horde Commander. An alien king made monstrosity by the very evil he tried to destroy. Searching for the original source of this evil to eradicate it, he came upon Earth, unknowing that the source fell long ago. A being with thick, leathery skin, this creature is armed with long talon-like claws, four stinger-tipped appendages emerging from its back, two tentacles hidden under its protruding ribcage, and a chitin-armoured tail.

Dirge stalked through the bushes watching his new prey. He had seen the man attack one his fellow humans shortly before, taking some of the victims wealth with him, but none of that mattered to Dirge. As the large beast slipped through the tree line of his forest home the bushes around him shook quietly. In the silence of the night however this slight disturbance was enough to get the robber to turn quickly with his weapon raised. The man called out "WHO'S THERE?" his pistol shaking in the moonlight. He faltered when he heard a creaking sound behind him, like the slow movement of timber.
Dirge watched with much more interest as something new happened. His prey slowly turned it's head around looking at the monster behind it. A large many armed being with a twisted smile on it's face, it's black skin nearly invisible in the darkness. Dirge decided to wait and watch this new being and how it handled Dirge's prey. The man turned swiftly, his eyes wide with fear, but before he could pull the trigger of his weapon a large hand clasped upon his wrist. He began to scream as the thing made contact with him; another arm flattening against his chest. The multi-armed monster pulled violently on the robber's arm, a sickening pop echoing through the woods. The man stumbled back in his terror and pain. He turned to run and ran directly into Dirge. Trapped between two beasts the man's sanity began to slowly fade. His eyes widening even further until his mind couldn't handle the stress. The man passed out from fear, collapsing between the two.
Handy looked over to Dirge, who stood the same height as he. Handy's head tilted to the side, questioning Dirge's intentions. As a show of honor Dirge knelt down and nuzzled the unconscious man towards the ageless monster, demonstrating that Dirge intended for Handy to have this meal. The dark monster reached one of it's many large hands forward and grabbed the defenseless feast, letting its tongue slide out from it's body and attach itself to the back of the man's neck. Dirge sat back and waited for Handy to finish his meal before acting again. The two stood up together staring at each other. Handy's large grin facing Dirge's gaping maw. Dirge felt for the first time in centuries some form of trust for something else. This being was much like him in it's own way. Alone and abandoned against an untrusting and violent world. Dirge knelt down, his only sign for trust, to Handy. He hoped it would be enough to tell the other what he wanted. Dirge lowered his head and waited, only opening his eyes when a large hand placed itself on his shoulder. Handy had silently moved closer to Dirge and accepted his friendship. The two monstrosities stood together. Dirge nodded to Handy who's grin grew even wider. The two dark beings slipped into the shadows of the woods. A horde was to be born.
