Okay, I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to have a forum function that automatically locks a thread after a certain time of inactivity? For instance, if a thread has no one posting in it for, say, 1 month, it would automatically lock itself. That way, it would prevent noobs from coming in and bumping really old threads solely to get their post count up. And it'll save the mods some the trouble of binning the old threads that were bumped.

If it can be done, I love this idea. I hereby second this notion.

As long as it doesn't lock the stickied threads.

Yeah, that might be a problem. Unless there's a way around that. Also, keep in mind that the thread poster can also reopen the thread, which would be needed if he wanted to bump it for some reason. Because if anyone should bump their thread, it should be the OP.

It's called pruning.
It deletes threads after a certain amount of time.
It's a standard function of all forums.

That reminds me of another suggestion I have. I think all the stickies in the various forums should be reviewed. Some sections (like Main) have too many stickies, in my opinion. Unstickying a few things would clean these sections up a bit.

EDIT: No, we don't want pruning. We want to keep our posts and such. That's why the suggestion is to lock these threads instead.

You still keep your posts.
We have pruning already but it's set to like a year or something.

So what does it do? Get put in the forum archives, or something?

I thought it deletes threads? In the past, when a thread was deleted, all those who posted lost those posts on their counts. I may be misinformed.

Either way it's nice to have old threads to look back to if you need information from them. I'd rather see them get locked.

Another valid point. I'm liking this suggestion more and more.

Agreed.
I find it slightly annoying that I can't get access to threads that were around before SPP, cos that's when most o my good animations came out.

Yes but this is a feature designed to keep the forum tidy and leave the posts.
It'd be useless otherwise.
Yeah i agree they should be locked, it was just informing you.
