Can science and god coexist? ex: god created the big bang/evolution etc...

Is it likely? Or does science simply refute it/contradict the idea of a god/gods

If we're talking the christian bible's God, then it really all depends on how you interperet the text

I meant the existence of one, my bad. The idea that a God/gods exists; does science refute it? That is the question.

I know what you meant. Try to define that idea outside of the context of a specific religious description of it. You can't, that was my point.

Here you go; A god: a being, usually supernatural and possessing a great amount of power over the elements of the universe, that is worshiped or held sacred/holy by followers of a religion.

I do see what you mean, however. In order for 'science*' to attempt to disprove something like this, the simplest method is to look for evidence of a deity's actions, particularly evidence of events described in a creation tale or something of that nature, which would require one to discuss a more specific idea of a god. It would be okay to discuss the Abrahamic God then, if this community finds it easier but, the discussion progress, pace and fruitfulness will likely be affected.

Not that this discussion will be able to go anywhere for a while either way, as the wave of euphoric 'thar be no gudz herp herp' waxes and wanes.

Lol this is supposed to be an unbiased discussion. I'd expect everyone to be opened minded and intellectually discuss the possibilities of a god or vice versa. I'm an atheist but I'm awaiting a good judeo-christian argument.

Discussing the possibility of a god isn't the same as what you asked

It's all in the same context. My question isn't that strict...

No it isn't. "Does god exist?" is a philosophical question without a definitive answer. "Does science refute God?" specifically refers to the scientific method's ability to answer that question.

You cannot form an experiment to test the possibility of a supernatural being's existence. There is no directly observable evidence of its existence with which to formulate a scientific theory about it. You cannot use a lack of evidence for something to disprove its existence.

The answer to your question is a definitive no. There's nothing to discuss.
