I'm all down for accepting the consequences of breaking an agreement by signing up for a competition and selecting a theme that would keep other people from selecting the same one and screwing them out of what they want. Especially to not come through with my part of the deal and submit something. That's pretty unfair. However, I do feel like this competition in particular should be an exception because different participants in the same category are allowed to pick the same two animations. So there is no way people could get screwed out of a theme for their animation in this competition. The list could be saved for the next competition that requires people to choose a more specific and unique topic such as the GTL competition, and we could use this competition as a way to give those who failed to submit in the last competition a means to rebuild their trustworthiness and perhaps get their name taken off the blacklist.

Regardless of your answer I'm sure the others will accept their fate as well and continue to love you unconditionally :D

He's saying that if you opted in to gtl2 and didn't make an entry, you can not participate in this contest. However, you will be able to enter contests after this one, as the penalty only applied to the very next contest after gtl2. Moreover, opting into this contest and not creating an entry will not create any penalties relating to future contests, because opting into this one doesn't really screw other people into not animating what they wanted (except maybe a couple rare cases), like it did with gtl2.

What Arch is saying is that maybe the rule should be pushed to a different competition since in this one, sitting on a title isn't as big a deal since you can have as many of one title as you want as long as you mix it with something different

I interpreted what Stone said this way: The original penalty of gtl2 was there to make sure that everyone finished what they signed up for to discourage sitting on a title and not making anything. But since that obviously did not work, what you are saying makes a lot of sense too.

Yes. You should check the menus from the GTL entries as well, just to see how they do it.
