This thread is meant for high priority/long term/serious offence bans. Not the average run of the mill "oh he was spamming so he got a day/week ban because of infractions" bans. That's kinda what it's turned into at this point, but it isn't what it's for. For those kinds of things you should just be able to infer, especially since most of the guys asked about here are repeat offenders

Below, you'll see a list of names of all the people who we know have been banned recently, and their reasons for being punished as such.

This is completely not true, then. Why not add all bans? I'm curious about why PitchEnder was banned, but this thread will not help me. Really, really annoying.

The only way that you'll know that info is by going previous pages, but then again, you're gonna have to search for it
Changing the frontpage each ban might sound easier for us, but for the mods it doesn't

What? There isn't a single post ITT that says why PitchEnder was banned.

Wait what? I could've sworn there was a post saying why Pitch was banned..
I probably saw the old post.

Obviously I haven't read all 45 pages of this thread; I'm talking about his 7/29/15 ban. I think it's dumb that people need to specifically ask about every single ban when the entire point of this thread is to make it clear why people have been banned.

Also, "infraction overload" is not specific. I want to know if he double-posted, made a one-word post, flamed someone, trolled, or what. I'm curious. Is it confidential to know what post he was banned for? I've been pretty active lately and I've seen all his recent posts. Was the post he was banned for deleted? If this thread was any good, it would answer all my questions about bannings. Even if you want to play off the technicality of "Well, he wasn't actually banned, he was just infractioned, which happened to give him a ban," I'd like to at least know that without having to make a post and then wait five to twelve hours for a reply.

But apparently the only thing you need to know is that some people requested permabans or wanted to be banned to have a different name a year ago. Dumb.

I know you were talking about his latest ban, and yeah, i do agree with what you're saying though.

Who are you referring as dumb? Me or the thread itself?

The thread. This is the worst sticky we have, in my opinion.

pitchender was banned on 07/29 for a minor spam infraction which led to infraction overload. it was a one-day ban.

do you expect us to edit the front page of this sticky for every single instance like this just to remove it 24 hours later? that adds up to a lot of extra maintenance for little reward. either that or we're lazier than you assume we are.

so instead, if someone is curious, they can come here and ask. you got your response in less than 4 hours. I agree this thread could be managed better and it's currently a topic in the bat cave but I have a hard time believing you're genuinely inconvenienced by this

Exactly. It's better to have a slightly low maintenance thread to ask about someone's ban, then to have no clue why or for how long somebody is banned for. Even if this place only gave out who's been perma'd, it would be better than nothing. But in the future, i think somebody could come up with a legit ban registrar that automatically checks who's banned and why through some programming, and updates the thread itself. That way it'd be 100% accurate all the time, no one would even need to ask, and it'd require no maintenance at all. But for now, this thread is good enough for me.

If only you could view individual ban histories on profiles. I know a forum that does that.

These are complaints I have already addressed in the new site. This thread was always run on a volunteer basis and I always felt it was asking too much of mods to maintain. I don't mind leaving it up for the purpose of having a place where people can inquire about bans, but I've never required mods to update this thread because it has never been official. Index's complaints are pretty much the reason I thought this was a bad idea in the first place. We should update the main post to clarify what the thread is now rather than what it was intended to be, that or I'll just remove it because it seems to just cause problems.
