Well, random by definition, is the unexpected.

So you would have to say that either your definition of humor is incorrect, or that "because it does" is not random.

i would have to say that something unexpected can be very funny, if done right. if we always knew what was going to happen while watching a standup comedian, or watching a comedy movie, it wouldn't be that funny.

though cutting from the storyline every 1-3 minutes for something that has nothing to do with the story at hand isn't funny
