I just found out that this has been going around a little bit, so if you've suddenly seen something that looks like this:

Then you've got a type of malware which has nothing to do with Stickpage.

Getting rid of it is discussed at length here, but it also seems that it goes inside of your browsers as an add-on.

I'm not familiar with most, but with Firefox:

Go to your toolbar to tools, and then Add-ons from there to find it. It was called MacVx for me, and it even said that's who was doing them in the ads (right below Happy & Healthy) so once you remove them you can try resetting your browser or entire computer and you should be okay. Malware changes frequently though, so if nothing like that works than the above thread would still be your best bet, as well as things like Malwarebytes and Adaware.

And thank you to Jeff and Arch-Angel for pointing me in those directions, I hope this helps anyone else who gets this.

you won't always get the exact same adware. different varieties will generally require different removal instructions.

as a rule of thumb you can generally just look for common text in the ads along the lines of "ads by x company" (in this case it's "ads by macvx") and then google removal instructions specific to that company and your browser/OS.

in this case i would google something like "how to remove ads by macvx firefox osx" and be given plenty of removal instructions with no hassle (in fact, exactly the link jeff referred you to is the first result of that search). you can do the same for pretty much any adware. just be wary of sites that advise you to "download this malware removal kit" or something... that kind of shit is generally just even more adware and you don't want that.

That moment when you click on a youtube video and suddenly a 10seconds ad pauses the video 'ad by adblock manager'..
