Many months ago, I made this thread regarding some cool new features the devs had mentioned implementing, such as new map types and global spells. While they were originally scheduled to be released before Elementals, ele came first with no sign of the new features. CJ mentioned that they were still working on them and had decided to release elementals first. Now it's been over 5 months since I made that thread, there have been many small patches, but still no word on these updates.
So what I'm wondering is:
What's happened to these extra features? Are they still in the works? Did the devs trash them, or just forget about them? And if they're being worked on, is there any ETA for when they might be ready?
I personally think they would be really cool additions to the game. They'd add a whole new layer of complexity, giving rise to new strategies, forcing players to adapt to different map types and/or use spells effectively, and revitalize players' interest in the game.

If the devs could say what the status is on these big updates, even if it's just to say that they're no longer part of the plans, that would be great. Thanks.

Right. Im also thinking about that. The devs said that there will be clan options next but instead of that they made a whole new armory and didnt work on anything like that. So plz tell if these are planned or not

Just be patient, give them time. It's their game, they're the one who decide what they want to work on. Yall don't really need to know what's up and such cuz it's not gonna do anything anyway.

From my experience of coding and starting to make games from Unity it sems like making it is hard but updating and adding a bit new features like this is not alot of work so yeah I think they are taking too much time. Oh well, Let them be taking their time

Im not good at coding or programming in general, but im pretty sure using unity as a base platform for making games is a easier than making a multiplayer online game from scratch.

Depends. Starting up 100% yes but sometimes later you end up having to remove things you didn't want from the base and it gets complicated. Plus when the base changes the api you get loads of work to just update.
Generally though, I would still say starting from scratch is harder, though it's also a lot more free.

It sure is easier on unity. But I just thought that they have a very small crew so they cant work that much faster. But thern again I come up with that they have nothing else to work with or who knows they're up to something. We will just have to wait. I would appriciate if they give an ETA or just a reply here

Doing stuff with an engine is much easier than starting from scratch. If you use Unity, you start to realize just how much basic mechanics is already coded into it for you, and how much of a pain it would have been to do it by yourself. I'd say it's probably only viable to build up from scratch if you're a major company with a lot of employees working on it.

Yeah same here. I'd understand if they decided these things were too difficult to implement or think other things are more important, but it would be nice to know what the status is on them.

I don't know about that. 2D games aren't incredibly hard to build up from scratch, certainly 3D ones are though. I kinda like the very minimalistic stlye SE has from being almost all-from-nothing code.
