Whats the point of a space race?

We would just cheat again.

Excuse me? "Cheated"? Don't tell me you think that the moon landing was a hoax.

Oh, and to answer your question: http://www.stickpageportal.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1296862#post1296862

I really see no point of use living on the moon at this moment of time.
I think we could, but the the first couple hundred people up there will die.
Just my thoughts.

I would not want to be the first people to go to live on the moon.
Those people are basically are going to die to find out what we need to fix so all of us left here on Earth could survived on the moon.

And they probably know that. But there would be volunteers. Just like the first astronauts, the foray into space is more important than their own lives. I admire such loyalty.

Second'd.
Being schizo must be hard.

I saw on National geographic that there is this guy who knows how to survive on Mars. Because the Atmosphere there is full of carbonoxide I believe, and he has this machine with which he can change that into oxygen. Or something.
But I think that we'll first have to find a faster way to travel through space. Going to Mars right now, doesn't that take 5 years? How long would it be, leaving this solarsystem?

Oh, and I think we'll have to do it, of course, because of overpopulation.

Wait.

I still don't get this logic. I'm pretty sure they'd figure out secure ways to live on the moon before they sent a couple hundred people up there to die.

Err... The moon can't support an atmosphere. It has no carbon dioxide.

Yea, but there will still be problems.
So, most of the first people are probably going to die.

Wouldn't it just be easier to first do it in space near the Earth? That way we are only a few days from the Earth instead of years or months, while making it easier to contrsuct a false peice of Earth.
