Congrats. I will get my degree at the end of this year. After which I intend to do CELTA for a month. Really my plan is to teach English throughout my 20's in Asia/Europe so that I will eventually have enough experience to get a decent job in international relations (one of my majors). I figured employers want experienced employees (rather than hiring some faggot fresh out of uni with a BA and no experience), so why not make connections/get experience living in different countries for a decade. The reason I changed my major from Computer Science several years ago was precisely so that I wouldn't spend my 20's tied down to an internship at a software company here in Perth. Sure I won't get paid nearly as much as what I could have as a Software Engineer, but at least I have some semblance of freedom.
It's always smart to have experience and not just a degree. Honestly, I've been working to try to get some decent connections and experience myself. I view the degree as a showing that I have a strong foundation, while the actual experience I gain is what earns me my position. What I've started learning from here is, while I love food and the industry, I don't know if I'm all that comfortable working for somebody. I definitely don't enjoy fine dining, as there's way too high a standard for my liking. However, I've also come to the realization that I am unbelievably great with alcohol. Like, unbelievable. It's weird, but it's nice. I may look into being a bartender, or work strictly on sauces. It's a process, finding where you really fit.
