Well seven (or so) months later I decided to do some googling. Turns out that the poison ivy somehow facilitated a fungal infection known as ... wait for it.

When i worked for TMI painting watertowers i had to live in the back of my Explorer for 2 months while i was doing a job in NE. I lived off peanut butter sandwhiches and donuts. Awesome.
