Because everything got ****ed in the upgrade mods are now the only ones allowed to customise their user titles or have avatars above 100x100 pixels. Anyone can hide their online status, however, and if you had a custom user title or big avvy before the upgrade you get to keep it.

We should have some sort of thread for the little grievances about the new forums.

I mean like bugs, or things that used to be on the old ones that aren't on the new ones.

I changed my user title after the new layout. You go to the "Settings" button in the top right hand corner of the page. Then click "Edit Profile".

I did have a custom user title.
It was

i was able to change my avatar, and it's above the former limit i believe
