you have completely missed the point. you don't go up to somebody in the street and say "Hi! My name's Greg. I believe in Jesus! What's your name?" unless you either

a) want to start a debate with them
b) want to start a fight with them, or
c) want to assert some kind of superiority over a potential heathen to either feel good about yourself or convert them.

if you'll notice, none of these are even close to socially acceptable. if, however, a conversation turns to religion, then you might say "oh, well i'm a christian" and everybody will be all "that's nice. i respect your beliefs. thank you for not shoving them down my throat until i suffocate, and then getting offended when i tell you to piss off"

Concerning this topic, I do kind of find it silly and slightly rude to just mention in some kind of way, shape, or form of "I'm Christian" out of the blue, especially in your signature, when no one asked, and it bothers me even more if people just do those kind of things just so they can be part of the majority.
