Dunno about you but I'd be more worried about #2 than #1. well, I mean, I'm in a LDR with someone I trust completely so neither would worry me personally, but who knows. Kick some ass if you think you should.

Honestly the way I would go about this is possibly chat with the people "hitting" on my girlfriend and telling them to stop. I've made someones dick retract into themselves before.
As for the second one, I wouldn't lie it would make me a bit skeptical on the persons intentions. I believe chivalry still exists so it depends on the person. I would certainly thank him though, but I still might question his motives.

Anyways, in Fire Explorers we did some awesome shit where we bunked out and wore blacked-out gas masks, and had to navigate through a bunch of obstacles. I was gonna join this one group, but this one dickhead replaces me with someone else, and they get 3 minutes and like, 45 seconds. I get mad jelly. They come in cheering for their time, and when it's my turn, I get my srs face on. I take leader for my group and I fucking start yelling out orders and whatnot and directing everything. We got 2 minutes and 22 seconds.
They demand a rematch. they go first, and they don't even finish cause their leader gets lost. By the time they meet up, they're at 7 minutes. We go again, and although I'm no longer leading, I'm pushing like a motherfucker from behind. We get a minute and 30, and one of the captains pulls me aside and starts telling me about the "exceptional leadership skills" I demonstrated on the course.
