Well, all assignments are for in school now (at least in this state, I can't speak for other places) is just to prepare you for the big fancy test at the end of the year, so the school gets grant money. It has nothing to do with what you actually *ought* to learn.

I think it's just a language barrier. A lot of languages don't distinguish hypothetical events from future events.
I already had my big trip for this holiday, and besides that, I don't really have anything big planned. I do hope my friends will be free to hang out at the same time that I am though, because I'd like to spend more time with them. I don't really get to often, so I guess it's a special thing.
