Or perhaps you lived in Texas for a long time and was more accustomed to the environment and people around there, and the people there knew you well enough to be friendly to you. Then you moved the Texas and expected it to be all fine and good, but you got the opposite reaction because your habits of communicating with your friends in Texas carry on to Louisiana.

Not saying this is the case, but rarely is the situation ever so black and white to the point where one state is more friendly than the other.
