There are only two or three on a loose technicality.

Besides, the other vets (i.e. Gyohdon) will make short work of them, as per the trial-by-fire ritual for all the ones that came before.

except
a) the trial by fire is one of the major parts of the old SP attitude that got stomped out post-merge and is basically against the rules now
b) it doesn't work when the people who would do it are banned anyway

another alternative is to be able to vote to evict people from the chat thread or something i don't know

RHG Chat Thread. The same things keeps SE folk in SE.

that's obviously not working well enough if any actual conversation that starts to happen in the chat thread is inevitably interrupted by walls of
pointless immature banter (Click to Show)

We'll just have to readjust our methodology then, less blatantly hostile and more [something I can't describe]; I mean, iarentevil was a success (at least to me)!

Steam chat indicates he knows how cool you guys are once he got to know you, though that 'saving 500th post for wRHG battle' seemed to work faster wonders.

Generally I'm against having to leave people out from the Chat Thread Experience™, it's a necessary thing. We'll have to grit our teeth and bear with it until they adapt or they get completely public disapproval. (like harvie....?)

True dat. Very true that we have to bear with that fact.

Good idea, but problem is, we don't have that much time to do some helping here and there.
Some oldfags that are here were only looking for some fun, and doing things like that is a no-no.

And do you think they would change immediately? There's only 25% who changed immediately, and 50% who progress slowly. The other 25% is hopeless case.

Although I agree with your point, it's just looked like...too hard, or too much hassle to do. It's not hopeless though.

Yeah, it felt too easy to leave Vexor to his own devices when he was ordering some items at Blade-Runner's shop so I thought of doing something out of charity. Of course it ain't easy but it does kinda fill you with a sense of duty and accomplishment but there are a lot of occasions where I felt like hesitating (some of which I did). Then again, we have to let their hands go eventually and that's how [insert noob here] became a regular.

(I think I'm talking in this tone because I just finished reading archived stories by STORYTIEM (and his buddies like Saburo) of /tg/ fame, that campaign was so godly I wish the Writer's Lounge could emulate its awesomeness)

That could actually work. Would decrease the amount of rage posts here at the chat thread by an unknown percentage.

You guys should just make a thread about this so there aren't another twelve pages about helping to integrate new members into the forum.

On a side note, you all should learn to lurk more. I think the site would benefit as a whole from the lack of shitposts and spam that would result.

Forget it almond. I've spent my whole life trying to get idiots like these to quit spamming so much senseless crap and they only either stop at 4000 posts (Ai), drop off (Naimad), or achieve a little bit of improvement but not much (Guitarii). It's a lost cause. The worst is they end up like harvie...which they all swear they aren't emulating but god

I think harvie appeared while I was inactive on the forum. How bad was this guy?
