The reason I'm so annoyed by the matter in general isn't so much the color of the person who uses it, so much as the fact it's still used. You could question whether they're all using the same word. A word's meaning can't be tied inseparably to the letters/sounds used to express it, otherwise "gay" would still mean the same as "happy". If people today are using "nigger" to refer to a group in a non-derogatory way then they aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. And some people might try to argue that the easiest way to get rid of racism would be to make formerly-racist words acceptable.

On the other hand, the purpose of language is to communicate. If the majority of people find the word offensive then it doesn't matter whether or not you intended to offend - you will still offend and you shouldn't use that word.

It's a question I haven't thought about enough yet.

My policy with words is that if I use it and you find it offensive, then I won't use it. The same word is acceptable to use in setting where all parties don't mind that kind of language being thrown around.

It's stupid that blacks will spout nigger to each other, and then pretend this whole idea of racism still being entirely valid is surprising. No I'm not saying it's the sole factor that racism still exists, but I do believe it's of great influence to the matter. It doesn't matter if you use "nigga", it's just slang for the same word. It's origin definition is a condescending term suggesting that a person because of their skin color is of lesser value of life compared to those not of that skin color. Why would you continue to uphold such a thing, then?

You could say it's like a bully situation where the victim decided to embrace what they're called and use it consistently so that it no longer holds derogatory value. But that would then have to include that when someone not of black skin color would use it that the victims wouldn't be anally inserted with hurt. So that concept goes out the window.

I see the point you're making, Zed. It's a case of "connotation vs denotation." As the culture evolves, so to do the meanings of words, if not literally, in the perception of them by the culture.

But with "nigga" or "nigger," the double standard set up for it has it so that it can be interchangeably used as both offensive and nonoffensive. If a Caucasian person uses it, it is automatically bad, unless they're well accepted. But when a "black" person uses it, it depends on their tone. But the fact that these conditions exist makes the entire existence of the word a problem in general, similar to how gay was so controversial when used as a negative connotation towards homosexuals, which it still is in some cases.

Gay isn't a negative connotation, though. Faggot is. And faggot is used on generally just about anyone as a general insult if nothing else. But you don't see people going around calling just anybody a nigger as an insult. Only to blacks. It's stupid. Which is why the word in it's entirety needs to be accepted by all as just a commonly-used call to be used by anyone with no condescending value, or to not use it at all.

You haven't been to Portsmouth. Gay is used with disdain and anybody can be (and are) called niggas. Even the Caucasians. The funniest part is that as this is a primarily black area, these are mostly black kids and adults calling others niggas. Which bothers me a lot.

Being black myself I personally don't use the word, eh whats the point right.. With that being said I also don't care if anyone out of pure hate would say it directly to me. Because, I can't control what ya say, but I love the guy in the mirror can't nobody take that from me, or make me feel less of than nothing. Many people do use the internet as a shield to actively use it for 'hate' or use it to sound 'cool' again whats the point aye. Just gonna cause unnecessary arguments over the internet, wait... internet arguments really.. emoticons to show angry face really... break yo keys typing so hard really... yelling at who? its just you and the computer screen really.. ? Anyways spread love people, we are all human isn't that what really counts?

I love myself too, which why I'm against people using that word. If it weren't used for hate, there wouldn't be a problem. But so long as that seed of hate continues to thrive, it's just us allowing people to look down on us. Sure, we've made it "our word," but Jr shouldn't be a word we want! And internet or not, music or not, I can't accept that the issue of this word being pretty much everywhere in our culture is so openly accepted. Just today, somebody said "What's up my nigga?" to which I said "My name is Shaquel, and you can call me that or Shaq. Don" t call me a nigga." I know it wasn't used hatefully, but I can't just ignore what accepting that word would mean as things are.

I would certainly agree to this. So far my top 5 are Within Temptation, Epica, Nightwish, Kamelot and Sonata Arctica.

I enjoy several musics from MrSuicideSheep, even subscribing some of the artists like Rameses B., Phonat, Rogue, etc.
Also a celtic music lover with Adrian Von Ziegler as my main fav. artist for that one, really should have listened to his stuff more. :D

But mostly, Yanni was the one that introduced me with music world. :3
