Whoever that is probably thinks every human being on Earth only show affection to their mothers on mothers day, which happens a lot less than people think, or he's a over expectant over judging perfectionist who opens his door and always expects a world of happiness and love or he's just a shriveled up, cynical asshole doesn't like seeing other people being nice to other people if it's for a reason.

Why don't you just use Tinder. It's more effective for a shorter amount of time and uses a Hot or Not interface to pick your potential partner, skipping that First Impression first step
