Quote from ChoopiekWell one of those people was me dude, cuz as a muslim i found it kinda offensive.
but it's all over now, really this time.
you can think and trust what you want but refusing what others think and trust is the cause of war between religions
If you REALLY believed in your religion, I don't see how a stranger on the internet can even moderately ruffle your feathers. I did it for the lols, sure, but now I am becoming very interested in people's reactions to this. We have had some very insulting conversations about Christianity in the past, and while people were offended, they were able to brush it off easily. Curious.
Quote from AKDCTo be quite honest I feel a little offended. Sure you say you're joking, and you may believe it but there is always truth in jest. You're subconsciously developing a prejudice. I bet you fancy yourself an intelligent individual. Willing to say what ever among your friends, you have no respect nor any disrespect towards anything because all is a target. I've read as you ripped the religion of Islam and defended your inappropriate humor as a mere way of having fun. You know Slave masters gathered and joked of how the "niggers" were stupid, animals and savages? In the midst of Nazi Germany the soldiers joked of the petty "Jew". Today Men/Women Fat/Skinny shame each other. These "jokes" are heard and relayed among the young-lings and begin to construct discrimination within the society. These "jokes" locked away Japanese-Americans, pillaged innocent Vietnamese villages, split a country in half (Civil War) and nearly destroyed Europe. Watch yourself please, don't fall victim to the ignorance.
And you DO realise that none of these prejudiced jokes were over the internet? If you I was making these jokes to a bunch of friends in the presence of muslims in an antagonist/mocking way, I would understand half the reason for taking offence. But you're telling me that saying it to a bunch of no-names over the internet is cause for legitimate offence?
See, this is one of the things that angers me a lot. Relgion (and CERTAIN relgions) often seems to be given a free pass. Its ok to make fun of someone for their height, weight, looks, moral ambiguity, horniness etc... but its not ok to question and insult something that is TOTALLY unprovable and HAS (without doubt) led to certain atrocities being committed in it's name.
I dont mean to drag this fight on, but I am genuinely fascinated with the arguments of people who can defend this sort of thing from a moral viewpoint saying "Oh its stuff like insulting people over the internet that led to Slave owners whipping their niggers 300 years before the internet was invented."
