Schools aren't federal, they're run at the state/county level so even if you both live in the US, your calendars can still vary greatly. What state are you in?

Islam is a real religion, most people who follow that religion won't bomb american embassies. Extremists are slightly more common as Christian extremists, yet fewer gays have been stoned these days.
