The tenacious styling is excellent, when the situation calls for it. You should learn to lay back a little bit, think of it terms of being mugen from samurai champloo "your involuntarily revealing your limitations". If you're always going max speed it can't catch them by surprise. It could pay off to develop more than one style so that you can "change gears" as I like to call it.

^ Not a melee player.

Melee is a very complicated and competitive game within its roots. It wouldn't surprise me if Jutsu is the only on here who knew what was really going on behind that match.

I don't know much about super smash, but I've played it once and it doesn't seem so complicated imo (don't bash me if I'm wrong pls)

The controls are simple, the metagame is as complicated as you want to make it. At competitive levels it's a very complicated game.

Anyone play Super Smash Bros Melee? Would appreciate some feedback on my movement from the latest tournament I participated in. I was the bird and Mario :P

Spoiler for video player (Click to Show)

Double lasering is something that a lot of players look out for cause it's the tech that Falco probably uses the most on ledge. I remember Mango saying in an interview that he always goes to punish Falcos for that since a lot of them seem to have a bad habit for doing them, and I saw that for the majority of the first set you did that on the ledge and the Sheik player punished you for it. If you need more stage options, I'd recommend practicing wavelanding safely on the ledge while retaining your ledge invincibility. You did it well with mario, but not so much with Falco.

Love your CCing by the way, that's one of Sheik's primary weaknesses and I'm glad you took advantage of it.

Double shines are great and all, but you should also go for shine grabs.

Tomahawks are a nice options too, didn't really see you go for it that much.

SH lasering is your best friend if your opponent doesn't powershield. Basically what I'm trying to say is a tenacious style is good, but the reason why people hate fighting Falco so much is because is lasers pretty much dominate the neutral game. It's really easy to switch from passive to aggressive with lasers alone.

Shine off-stage isn't a bad option if your opponent is trying to snipe you with a needle.

Save your jump and opt to air-dodge on stage sometimes.

Shielding on a platform is generally a bad idea unless you can do either of these two things: shield DI, or shield drop. I didn't see any shield dropping (and that tech is mad hard to do consistently), but there were definitely times where the Sheik player poked the corner of your shield with a nair and hit you, so learning to DI your shield into the direction of the attack will be very helpful. That being said, shielding is still not a great idea on platform, so you should retreat as soon as possible.

What did stage did your opponent ban? Unless there were no bans. If there were no bans, then FD isn't a bad choice against a Sheik that doesn't techchase well, assuming you're Falco of course. SH lasers pretty much dominates. Dreamland isn't a bad alternative. Btw, do you not like Falco on Yoshi's Story? That's a great Falco stage.

Just random things I noticed. Didn't watch it too thoroughly.

There's an awesome Falco player on hyun's dojo named dkuo (his alias is also lf2master if you've heard of him), so if you want to ask for solid Falco advice he's probably the best person to ask.

Thanks, this is some great advice!

I love Yoshis, but had switched to Mario because I'm just as comfortable. One thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of down throw chaingrabs I pulled on him (I think I got only 2 or 3). I do need to work on shinegrabs, it's new tech I'm still trying to get more consistent with. I agree with how I was stuck on a platform, and I'm upset I found myself in that spot a number of times because that's a bad spot to be in.

I'm gonna work on these and let you all know how I do next time.

AND IS THAT THE SAME DKUO FROM VGBC?!

Yeah it's the same one, though he mostly resides in NorCal now cause of school iirc. Just @dkuo him an Hyun's Dojo and he'll gladly help you if you need help with Falco.

I wouldn't go that far.

Unless I see him destroying people in the major tournament scene.

Smash has always been a passion of mine. I know I can get there. And for the first time in my life, as I'm on my own, I have the time and money to do it. Don't sleep on me.

I do like playing smash with friends even though many times I get my ass kicked or somehow come in 2nd place my a miracle, lol.

I wish I could share some things on here. Like some mature content but I guess SPP does have to appeal to a younger audience doesn't it? ;)

But _Ai_, you clearly denied the fact enough that you used to be a good SE player somewhere on a thread recently :D
