But envoyyyyy people see a way more strong blue than that.

The internet has been divided in 2 factions, the end is near.

No, definitely not.

EDIT: This is what I get for leaving open the Chat Thread tab for too long.

I'm sorry my opinion was wrong.

it's mostly how your mind interprets the lighting, pretty neat optical illusion. I'm amazed at how fast it went viral though, holy shit

I'm not surprised at all. I mean.... I've never EVER seen this happening, if you see a dress that "changes colors" THAT drastically you'd want to share it with others as well. It's a pretty neat thing.

edit, no miracle, the original is white and gold >_>

I refuse to believe that the dress is any color near blue or black.

@envoy I don't think taking a photograph into paint to get the hex of one pixel is an objective method for discovering the true color.

It's funny that this is an argument because there are so many levels to consider it almost seems trivial to bother. Everyone sees colors differently, lighting plays a huge part, the material of the dress, the optics and digital sensor of the camera, the color of your monitor, the compression of the image being spread around the internet, the fact that it looks like people are playing with levels in photoshop as if that proves a point. Seems like people are arguing about what color it looks likes rather than what color it is. EDIT: also Wired makes the same mistakes, and is also a shitty publication

Can we all just agree that it's ugly :(

Yeah picking colors out in paint does nothing to address color perception which is the only reason we see it differently. It's literally all there is to it and it's fairly simple, I'm surprised there's so much arguing going on over it, not just here but all over the internet today.

Try taking your phone/tablet into a dark room and looking at the picture, it'll probably appear black and blue.

I looked at both different versions of the image, the black and blue one and the ''gold and white'' one and both look black and blue to me.

Here's a video that just showed up on the viral videos website I'm building (proving that my site works!) that sort of touches on what I said:

Just watched it. Kind of expected that, but what is it exactly that makes some people's minds to perceive it differently? Are the more outgoing people prone to believing that there is a blue-ish light causing to look gold and white and the more indoorsy people like me believe there is artificial lighting?
