Thats why George Carlin was such an unfunny dick (I realize I'm in the minority).

But I got the distinct feeling Carlin was being obviously sarcastic about that.

I meant morally better, but then again this is an entire debate all by itself.

Animals are primitive, only driven by instinct.

That's subjective, there's plenty of humans that could be considered morally bankrupt.

So you don't really have a thing for a dark sense of humor? I like it because it's a sad-but-true type of comedy. We all know if America put every prisoner in the country that was serving a life sentence in a ring and made them fight for survival, while televising it then it would stimulate so much money for the economy.

Call it genocide all you want, but it's better than rewarding a man with three meals a day, a roof over his head, and plenty of friends to hang out with for the rest of his life just because he stabbed someone in the eye 37 times.

You're misusing the word "genocide" here.

But yeah, just another example of how we're not so much "better" than animals. The difference is when animals act savagely they aren't in denial.

You honestly believe the average person is that decent?

this is one of those "opinion" things, not truth.

the average person is of average decency, so he's technically correct

It's okay for arch-angel to kill people, because he's in the army and it's honorable, because the army says so and they're brown people.

It's not okay for other people to kill people. Unless those people are then put in a death match for other peoples amusement.

I think most people pretend to hold standards that they don't actually uphold. I believe the average person isn't decent.

Exilement, my favourite comedians:

Pryor, Louis Ck, Frankie Boyle, Mitch Hedberg, Bill Burr, Bill Hicks, Doug Stanhope, Jimmy Carr, Dave Chapelle, Anthony Jeselneck, Greg Giraldo any many, many others. Even Carlin when he actually IS funny and not on one of his "I know whats is wrong with the wrong, I am smarter than everyone" shtick to cater to his wannabe-intelligent-rebel fanboys and girls.

making criminals fight each other has been done before, and it's always been indicative of a failing state when we use criminals as entertainment.

Hey I never said that. I don't like the idea of unnecessary killing.

I feel like it's better to get rid of people rather than prolonging their end, resulting in them becoming a leech to society.

Arch, do a dying man a favour and make a topic in the debate thread for this please. Post all ideas there, I really want to participate and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to stay awake.

haha that's a good point, I feel like Carlin's fans ruined him for me before I gave him an honest chance. Great list, looks like we have the same taste in comics. Doug Stanhope is the only comedian I've ever seen live during his "Shit Town Comedy Tour", he's fucking hilarious.

Guess it depends on how you define decent. Literally everyone has a moral code separate from their actions, except for that jesus fellow everyone talks about so much, and look what happened to him.

Animals don't go into denial because they don't have the mental capacity to.

Animals commit murder all the time, it's just not called "murder" because it's called "Animals being animals"

Stanhope is amazing. I love him and his wife even when they appear together on the Stern show.

My beef with Carlin / Carlin fans is this. You've actually convinced yourself that he is edgy and dark when the stuff that he says will be blatantly apparent to any 15 year old who reads books about the world. Most Carlin fans I know are people who make 0% effort to find out about geopolitics or cultural stifling or religous bigotry and then when Carlin says it, they're like "WHOA MAN THIS GUY IS A GENIUS".

Carlin: GOD IS BAD.

Audience : WHOA... THATS EDGY! WE NEVER THOUGHT OF IT LIKE THIS!

Carlin: CORPORATIONS ONLY WANNA MAKE MONEY.

Audience: WHAAAA... CAN HE SAY THAT??? THIS GUY IS PUNK ROCK AS FUCK.

Carlin: TV CHANNELS AND ADVERTISERS DONT WANT YOU TO SWEAR.

Audience: HOW DOES HE KNOW THIS? WHAT MAGIC DEVICE IS HE USING TO READ OUR LIVES SO WELL????
