If I could direct your attention to Exibit B, this here is another example of someone asking a question and "wondering" about something that they already know the answer to for the sole sake of raising their post count.

It is a rule. There's just so much of it that it's hard to catch it all. Lots of minor spam will still end badly though, and given how much more enjoyable and less pointless it is to actually think before posting, I don't really see why "contentless posts" are such a widespread problem.
