I'm just annoyed because people are talking about it everywhere. Whenever there's something popular I'm not into, it just seems to be thrust into my life. It's like being with your group of friends and there's this new inside joke and you are the only one who doesn't know of it. Everyone's having fun but I'm just standing there getting slightly annoyed that I don't know what the hell's going on. Now imagine that everywhere. (If the swearing made it sound harsh, do know I grew up in an area where kids that are like 8 years old walk up to me, giggle a bit and then tell me "fuck off you gay boy" so words like 'shit' and 'fuck' are as casual for me as anything else.)

The thing I said goes with many TV shows. If you enjoy it, and there's spoilers revealed, people are going to be talking about it, so you shouldn't bring it up because some assholes might just want to ruin your fun. People spoiled Breaking Bad for me.

So what you're basically saying is "I hate how real life works. If something is really popular, I don't want people to talk about it in front of me because I am special. I want the majority to make concessions for me, and instead of making an effort to find out what they are talking about, I am going to hang around with them and insist that they have no fun whatsoever."

No, I'm just saying I get annoyed by it. IRL I'd make an effort or just walk away. Done. Online it just gets shoved at me and shoved at me, I could go to a different website and just bump into the thing again. And I do try to take an interest. I've watched the first two seasons of GoT to try and get into it, Couldn't. Yes, yes, people like thing and I don't like thing.

There's a time and place to express your annoyance. When you're in front of a legion of Beliebers, you don't go "Justin Bieber fucken sucks." Because A that will get you slaughtered. And B it won't change their mind.

I don't mind him expressing an opinion at all. I don't think there are enough GoT fans here to be annoyed. But he seemed to suggest that we not talk about it AT ALL as long as he is around.

Ay, it's a chat thread. I just thought I'd be able to slap down my thoughts and post them without much consequence. I never actually told you guys to not talk about it, I just said I didn't like it and put my reasons there. Though I admit I did put out my point of view a bit too harshly, I'm still just one dude. Can tell by my postcount and join date that I've been here far less than you guys. And I'm not tryin' to change minds.

And it's not about the number of GoT fans here. It's GoT fans elsewhere. I remember back in sixthform I'd be talking to my mates and then suddenly everyone's talking about GoT. I couldn't catch a damn thing what they were saying. I watched the first two seasons and so I understand some stuff, but I swear people went on for two weeks about some red wedding thing. And when I went home to do some online socialising, I was met with the same thing. Followed me everywhere. Imagine a thing you didn't like and you cannot ignore it no matter how much you try. You may feel like you've gotten away from it but then it pops up again. Of course I'm gonna rant out some point about it.

There may be a small number of fans here, but if you get a load of small numbers and put them together, it gets big.
