View Profile What's life in general like in China anyway. It's economically powerful but are standards of living good or bad? Can you criticize the government without somehow being punished for it or is it authoritarian.

View Profile it's hard to tell the value of yuan, since it's doubtful that China may even be an open economy
tldr: China might be making up the value of it's currency for the sake of trade purposes

I read something about that too, but I lack any solid economical background to make a sound judgement.

View Profile Years ago, when the Zimbabwean economy crashed, and cotton bags were worth more than the bundles of money INSIDE the bag, no one called it the defeat of Capitalism. Any system, Capitalism or Communism, will fail when implemented incorrectly. It is the fault of the country and not the system.
Just for the record, I think Capitalism >>> Communism, but to use Venezuela as an example would be incorrect.

View Profile Speaking of economical and political systems, did anyone read about this:
https://www.thevenusproject.com/en/about/the-venus-project
I get the general idea of a "resource based economy", but otherwise it's really vague. They haven't made it clear what exactly this idea aims at and how it's going to be done. I would generally support the idea if I understood it more thoroughly and how it would be applied.
