I hope I never have to go to court, I've never even been there and I already know my heart is all full of contempt for it.

Maybe I'm an idiot and I just don't understand it. But if people are innocent until proven guilty, and the American people are supposed to have freedom of speech, then how is being contemptuous of court even allowed to be illegal? It seems to me that almost no one is going into that situation thinking "Golly gee willikers, I did something wrong and I'll be getting the correct treatment because I believe in this system" but instead they're probably thinking "Great now some asshole and a panel of assholes that are allegedly my peers get to determine if I lose years of my life and get assfucked in prison."

I'm not saying you should go into a courtroom and be allowed to make a complete ass out of yourself.
But when you're being rung through a system that you were born into and have literally no choice but to submit to, regardless of how flawed it is. It should be understandable that you're upset and contemptuous.
While I agree that this rule helps prevent the court room from being disrupted. It also seems to me like a perfectly easy way for a judge to arbitrarily escalate your sentence. And that's another subject, why is it acceptable for a judge to change their verdict once someone is expressing contempt? I'm sure most people come in and out of court with contempt, but how is it just to give someone a worse sentence simply because they expressed it? Because they didn't express submission to our bullshit? This should be about what they against the law, not about how the judges feelings get all hurt because someone called him an idiot.

I guess what I'm saying is I think disruption of court should be punishable, because otherwise no case will ever be solved, but not contempt. I think that the defendant should be allowed to say whatever they want to say during their turn to talk. This means if they choose to make themselves look like an asshole or to personally attack the judge and jury, then let em.

I can't shake this feeling like, we're all born young, soon to be old and then dead inevitably and invariably. I understand why we're forced to accept the commands of some asshole with a gavel, but why do we have to treat them like they aren't just some asshole with a gavel? That's what I don't get.

Who knows? Maybe I'll read this post in a couple years and be like "Oh that was uneducated and naive!" but probably not, because I already think the justice system is a shit sandwich minus the bread.
