Let me make this clear from the outset my position on GamerGate, I fully support GamerGate and I think that it's a noble movement with a good cause.

I was on the boat with GamerGate when this shit had first started; Mostly me posting about it on /v/. Myself, alongside a few of my friends had noticed corruption in games journalism even before this whole shitstorm came about. Mostly because I watched Internet Aristocrat even before GamerGate happened, and he's uploaded videos detailing shitty behavior in games journalism like his Mighty no.9 and Anita Sarkeesian videos.

The reason I decided to join the movement and actually make a stand against this issue is because the people I fucking despise. SJWs, 3rd wave feminists, and tumblrettes we're the people pushing this idea of "sexism and misogyny in video games" These people were quite literally killing my hobby, and It didn't feel right to let it happen, and it didn't feel right to stand back and let others handle it either. Strength in numbers and all that shit.

It's really difficult to explain why exactly the issues brought up by anti-GG people are complete bullshit without explaining feministic ideologies and SJW personalities. So I'll just do the super super super condensed version: SJWs are oversensitive and seek to censor anyone who offends them or denies their victim hood. 3rd wave feminism believes everything is in control of men and all men seek to subjugate women and oppress them (Patriarchy) And both these accusations are false. And I'd gladly explain why. But this is a discussion on GamerGate and not feminism or SJWs.

The thing that irritated me most about this is the simple fact that gaming journalism wasn't doing what it needs to do in terms of standards.


I understand that to some extent opinion pieces will pop up in Journalism all the time and I don't necessarily think that that's a very contentious issue, however. The sheer amount of opinion pieces all putting out the same idea of "sexism in gaming" was astonishing, Games journalism sites we're becoming way more leftist and we're obviously putting forward a narrative to the consumer. Now, that's bad enough on it's own. My biggest problem, and the thing that had me angered the most. Was some of the content being put out by these people, and the amount of "Gamers" buying into their bullshit and drinking the kool aid. Things like the Microsoft E3 "Rape" scandal. Where, on stage a man said "Just let it happen it'll be over soon." and Kotaku, Polygon, and all these sites started pumping articles out saying that the video game industry was full of sexist people. Basically condemning the entire gaming audience for one comment someone made. That wasn't even said in a sexual light.

Articles like "Should killing in video games be considered rape?" And i'll be honest. I was okay with all this in the very very beginning, but once SJWs began to infiltrate the video game industry. The people who consume this message and buy into this shit. This was when I started to become irritated, and once Joe Gjoni's blog post about Zoe came out, and IA's first GamerGate related video came out. I knew that I had to stop this shit.

I stopped going to polygon, gamasutra, and kotaku. A few months before this shit dropped. Becuase of these horribly offensive and stupid articles. There is no sexism in gaming. Just because a few games have sexualized female characters doesn't point to outright sexism, just because one Gamer insults a girl because she's a girl doesn't mean he speaks for the majority. And this seems to be the thing that these fucking idiots don't seem to understand. And dear god, just because Anita Sarkeesian gets hate mail that point out the fact that she's a woman doesn't mean that they're sexist.

The last thing I'd like to address was the censorship, because aside from the issue itself this is what led me to drop in on the #GamerGate hashtag every day, /v/'s GG thread everyday, and nowadays 8chan's /gg/ board. It would've been one thing for these gaming journalists and SJWs to take on their criticism and prove their point (if they even had a point, which they don't.) There really isn't a way to justify unethical actions in journalism regardless of what you're reporting on. So instead of having a discussion like a mature person. They instead took to insulting those wanting to look into the situation more, calling them conspiratorialists and basically telling the gaming public to not dig deeper, but what was even more egregious was the mass censoring being done across the internet, reddit, youtube, and even 4chan. Which was suppoedbly the safe haven for discussion on GamerGate. Everything these people were doing was completely unacceptable.

I fully support GamerGate, this isn't a small issue and I refuse to give the privilege of providing me with industry information on my hobby to people who seek to push a narrative. I'd be fine with SJWs reporting on Games, so long as they don't push their bullshit narrative. This can't be avoided, and it'd be retarded for Gamers to let these cancerous people to get our hobby in a choke hold. Is it really too much to ask for ethics in the coverage of games journalism?
