Not at all what I expected. I rented it thinking it would be a slow drama film with only a little action, but what I got was an opening scene of people attaching iron claws to their hands and feet, making diabolacle clubs and axes, and marching out to meet a tophat wearing gang. Then a great battle sequence commenced, and I was left in shock as the rest of the movie progressed.

i'm not much of a Leonardo DeCaprio fan, but Daniel Day-Lewis and his incredible cahracter carried the film far beyond most of the movies I've seen in the past few months.

Incredible film.

As a side note, it was Exilement's avatar that sparked my desire to see this.

It's slow in the middle, but it's got such a great story that it makes it seem to go a lot faster.

No... This is a serious film about a fictionalized civil-war era new york city. Kung Fu Hustle is a humorous homage to martial arts films. Unless there's an actor or a producer or something I don't know about, the films are completely different.
