Congrats daz! you're a thing now.
What lol. And today in SE lobby chat someone said "DAZ, to us 1900s you're like a god to us." and I was like O.o
But Triforce...started watching the first replay, and (not trying to be harsh), but here:
It's a short map (Swampsland) and you have a sword out...and you're not getting tower? That's worth 2 miners worth of income! As well as that, your opponent has no defences at all. You should be attacking and pressuring, not sitting at home.
That's why at top level play, sword/archer -> sword is a big opener, because you're playing aggressively and dealing damage.
Secondarily, miner hustle. I get what you're trying to do with this - strong economy! But the thing is, it's much more worth it to get your miners at least up to 9 on gold (second row mining) before getting hustle 90% of the time because it's cheaper and pays back faster. Mana stops you from making army and miners in the early game, therefore it should *not* be used at the beginning, at least until you have say, 8 miners minimum.
My suggestions:
Medium map (Ice, Forest, Gates, GH) - use MMS, if opponent goes spear, make more swords, if opponent gets an archer, make archers or if you're not confident in holding, get a castle archer, and if opponent has nothing at tower, make miners.
Basically, you make two miners and send a sword to get tower (because it's worth 2 miners and gives all sorts of other goodies like map control! :D) to scout/get information.
Short map (Desert, Swamp, Hallow, Castle) - use Sword/Archer -> Sword. Keep your archer slightly in front of the sword so it takes a hit. Make miners if he goes CA, make swords if he gets an archer.
Obviously play varies and as you improve, you'll change your build but following this will give you a solid macro base.
If you come see me at Team Zenith (teamzenith.com/irc is our chat), I can play some matches and help you out.
