So being the loner that I am I rarely get attend birthdays. I was catching up with a friend the other week and it seems he is quite the party animal. Birthday parties every week until the end of the month. I didn't dare ask him how many he attended throughout the year. He explained that each party required him spending around $50 on the gift. As you can see, this ain't healthy for a bank account if you have a large friend group and why I am lucky to limit my gift giving to only two people per annum. Looks like there are perks to being a social recluse after all.

How do you decide who to reject or accept? What factors determine the money you spend on presents? Double presents when their birthday falls in the month of Christmas? There must be some Nobel prize worthy mathematical equation to end this dilemma.

I usually just buy blank hallmark cards and give it to them.

Depends how much I actually care for this friend. I don't really have this problem because I only have a few people I'm very close with, but I definitely wouldn't get a present that costs a lot for someone I don't care about. I suppose I should try, but I make it a thing never to spend over $15 on a present.
