Albowtross are slow and have a smaller range than archidons. Considering the time given to build spears and albatrosses, they have enough time to build mages, which can easily destroy your albowtrosses considering how slow they are. Also albowtrosses are much more expensive and population wasting compared to archidons.

Not always.
Effective kiting with archers early game (with other units as a meat-shield against castle archers/Deads/lightning elementals) will ruin the opponents economy, or even just plain on 4 swords/rage rush might work. With less experienced players, it produces a pretty easy win (I know this because I've done it several times).
Also, Albowtross are not necessarily a waste of population. Their health (fair enough) is twice a normal archer. Also, Albowtrosses only require a one-time upgrade to do extra damage from Blazing Bolts (I think that's the name?), as opposed to a 50-mana one-time fire arrow for a normal archer, which uses up mana needs for your mage/meric/spearton walls, which means you can't kill off your miners for extra population.
Furthermore,
1. Albowtrosses are faster than mages, but more importantly, if you have spears and merics (which you SHOULD have no matter what strategy you're using), poison isn't a problem, electric wall can be dodged simply by walking away, and the explosion is likewise nothing.
2. You won't be facing JUST Order empire.
3. Albowtross deals extra damage to armored units (in addition to the normal extra damage from the blazing bolts upgrade), which are a big thing in the endgame.
That said, this strategy is horrible for a short map simply because your opponent will rush you if they figure out your strategy. Examples:
Order Empire: Archidon kiting. Faster and better range.
Chaos Empire: Dead army. Far tankier and deals poison damage.
Elemental Empire: Fire/Lightning Elementals. Faster and deals burn/extra damage.
Not to mention what a massive economy is needed for a specialized army like that (which is presumably a defense-based strategy and something you can't easily pressure your opponent with, giving them time to build an army superior to yours) and of course, you can't easily do that on a short map.
