I personally prefer Japanese music, it has more variety, doesn't get stale as quickly as kpop, meaningful lyrics.
On the other hand K-pop has no variety whatsoever, every single group and singer is doing the same thing. Their lyrics are meaningless, repeating 1 word a thousand times is 80% of the song. They are just catchy, that's all.

Well to be honest, in my opinion all pop sounds the same, and most of it sounds generally bad, so I don't draw a distinction between the two. If you like pop in general, chances are you'll like both
Japanese music in general I think is better than korean music, but pop is pop, it's pretty much universally garbage

I like both really but atm I am more capable of understansing J-pop since I'm learning Japanese. So J-pop.
