I actually dont get the thing about knives there..
It seems like people likes to get a knife there, since its rare.. Why?

CS:GO has a system that you can open 'cases' and receive skins for the guns in there. there are various skins grades, depending on how rare you can get them. In the steam market, the common ones will have lower prices, and the rare ones have higher prices. Knives are extremely rare items, they are the most expensive items in the game. they usually cost more than $100. There's not only one type of knife you can get it from opening cases, there are so many different types of knives and skins.

Items are like the ingame currency, knives are pretty much the top tier items, some of them are worth up to 2K$ because of their rare patterns. Items are also widely used for betting on live matches.
