When the character punches, he does not take a swing, there is no momentom gain and hitting like that would of been the same as running into the guy.
Make his arm move back ward, double frame right before he hits and ski the frame during the punch. It will give it a look of speed.

Errrrr where's the animation ? I can't see any link and the spoiler is showing nothing. :^(
